Build on DIMO – September 2025

📖 Introducing The New & Shiny DIMO.org

We relaunched dimo.org–the definitive landing page for the DIMO Foundation, serving as both an inspiring showcase and a practical hub for builders and innovators in the automotive data landscape. At the heart of the new experience is DIMO Build—the developer portal powering the core foundation and ecosystem, crafted to accelerate how developers, businesses, and mobility companies interact with vehicle data in a secure, scalable, and real-time manner.

Welcome to the New DIMO.org 🎆

The refreshed website reflects DIMO’s bold vision: transforming a $100B+ vehicle data industry by providing a single, open-source infrastructure where developers and companies can tap into real-time vehicle telemetry and services, all while maintaining privacy and compliance with global regulations. DIMO offers universal compatibility—and a plug-and-play developer experience ready for prime time.

DIMO Build: The Developer Powerhouse 🏋️

DIMO Build is the centerpiece of the focus, inviting developers to participate in an open, programmable ecosystem. Here, builders can:

  • Learn about how we built a secure and compliant API infrastructure, pre-configured for privacy-preserving data exchange.

  • Follow along the documentation, featuring interactive guides to help developers quickly become familiar with the DIMO ecosystem.

  • Gain instant access to a suite of tools and configuration wizards for integrating vehicle data, as well as interactive API explorers. These tools empower builders to test concepts, explore ideas, and deploy features—like DIMO’s login and consent management—without leaving the docs.

Built with Openness, Ready for AI 🤖

The foundation of DIMO is open-source, ensuring that anyone can build, audit, and innovate on the protocol. With built-in support for generative AI and MCP servers, DIMO Build is engineered to power next-generation mobility solutions—from fleet management to personalized driving applications—with real-time data at its core.

Join the Mobility Revolution ✊

The new dimo.org isn’t just an informative website—it’s a call to action for developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprises who are ready to reshape connected mobility. By reducing development friction, offering robust privacy/consent frameworks, and providing direct access to a rapidly growing global network of connected vehicles and device offerings, DIMO invites builders to turn their ideas into real-world applications at automotive scale.

🏗️ DIMO Challenge: 8 Apps in 8 Hours

To celebrate the launch of the new dimo.org website, the DIMO team got together online and built 8 apps in 8 hours. The goal was simple: demonstrate how quickly developers can deploy DIMO-connected applications. Oh, and the winning participant won a brand new iPhone 17 Pro.

Check out the top three applications below, and also be sure to check out all the demo applications here

Mileage Calculator – 1st Place 🥇

The winning application, Mileage Calculator, is built with gig drivers in mind. Once connected, the app uses a custom trips algorithm to help you track, categorize, document, and export your trip information for tax or business purposes. Start tracking your trips here →

Roadside Roadie – 2nd Place 🥈

Roadside Roadie enables drivers to chat with an AI assistant that helps with responding to breakdowns and other non-emergency issues, and automatically connects you with a mechanic. Test it out here →

Rapid Rental Returns (RRR) – 3rd Place 🥉

RRR gives car rental fleet owners peace of mind by allowing employees to quickly estimate return costs and accept payment from drivers. Try out the return process here →

Any of the above applications can be forked and remixed to give you a head start on building your own version, or to just help you prototype a new DIMO app. Learn more about how to get started with the DIMO Replit Developer Kit
